Messagers’ Forum: Patrick Mahon at Thames Art Gallery

A new Exhibition by Patrick Mahon: Messagers’ Forum

September 16, 2020 - January 10, 2021

Thames Art Gallery, Chatham ON

The gallery describes the project this way: “An art installation that poses questions about culture, nature, communication, and meaning. In a space of emblematic drawings, collaged landscapes, and recorded speech, we experience a setting where spoken exchanges between people in the community are suggested as being desirable and available to us, but also sometimes elusive and fleeting. It is a place where nature is presented as more than a backdrop, as if to describe a theatre for an unwritten drama.

In the mezzanine gallery, view “The Questions Project”. Mahon worked with Ursuline College Chatham students to produce a series of works investigating how Culture is changing. His work with the students took place during the early days of the pandemic and Black Lives Matter protests.”

—I was very moved by the attendance and engagement with my talks on Oct. 18 & 19, and look forward to the publication, with an Interview by Robert Enright. My thanks to TAG, and to former Director Curator, Pamela Edmonds, who initiated the exhibition./PM
