Trying to stay busy while social distancing, 2020

On August 4th, the world watched in horror as a 10km swath of Beirut’s downtown core was destroyed by an explosion. On top of the loss of human life, Lebanon is grappling with the loss of the Port of Beirut, a loss of infrastructure that will have dire economic consequences. If you are like me, you may have felt paralyzed by another tragedy in what seemed like an increasingly plagued year. I was inspired to see that two Garden Ship participants, Jamelie Hasan and Ron Benner, have donated work to an online auction dedicated to direct aid to those effected.

To:Beirut - Canadian Artist Auction for Lebanon offers art collectors an opportunity to purchase poignant work while supporting reconstruction efforts. Funds raised by To:Beirut will go directly to local organizations such as Offre Joie, The Lebanese Red Cross, The Lebanese Food Bank, Impact Lebanon, Mophradat Beirut Art Fund, and AFAC Lebanon Solidarity Fund.

Please, have a look at the art works on offer at https://event.auctria.com/e0d4952f-de3d-4e8e-ac13-a74d80a9ba65

Bidding on and/or sharing this auction is a way to directly support recovery in Beirut. Sales will close on September 25th, 2020 at midnight EST.
